1 Monica Zuniga Martin will bring her dance students, Baile Folclorico, to open the Fairfield Certified Farmers Market on Thursday afternoon, May 6th. These students dress in traditional Mexican attire and perform a variety of time-honored Latino dances. The dancers range in age from five years old to sixteen years old.

2 The market is open from 4pm until 8pm on Texas Street between Taylor Street and Madison Street in Downtown Fairfield from now until October.

3 Free musical entertainment is scheduled for each week. In addition to Baile Folclorico Performers this year include:

Free children’s arts and crafts projects will be offered each week from 5pm until 7pm. Crafts projects include kites, seeds planted in decorated pots, pinwheels, mosaics and more. The projects are designed to appeal to kids of all ages, and parents are invited to do the projects with their children.

There are over twenty vendors participating in the market this year, including

Vang’s Vegetable Farm (Asian Vegetables), Xiong Produce (Asian Vegetables [new varieties]),
Fong Thao Asian Vegetables (new varieties),
Meyers Fine Foods & BBQ,
Gold Rush Kettle Korn,
Pirate Pat’s Shave Hawaiian Shave Ice.

6 Chef James Aptakin from the Hilton Garden Inn and Bill Way from the City of Fairfield will join us again for cooking demonstrations. Market- goers can learn how to use the various kinds of market produce in easy-to-prepare dishes. The demonstrations start at approximately 5:00pm each week. Each recipe will be printed so market- goers can easily try the dish at home after purchasing the ingredients right at the market!
